Incredibly, Google’s Home smart speaker hasn’t been refreshed in over three years. Yes, the US firm has released a new mini speaker and launched its Nest Hub devices that feature an in-built display. But, if it’s the standard Google Home you’ve been wanting to see refreshed you’ve been left mightily disappointed for way too long.
However, after years of waiting, it seems that’s all about to change. Rumours have been rife that the US technology firm was planning a major reboot to its intelligent music maker and now the first official picture of this new device has been revealed.
Google has just sent images of this rebooted device to the team at The Verge with a message attached that simply said, “what the Nest team is working on from home.”
As you can see from the photo this new device – likely to get the Nest branding – looks very different from the current Google Home.
Firstly, it comes in a new pastel blue colour and it seems that the device can be stood up on its end or laid flat on surfaces. This design is similar to the premium Home Max speaker which can also be placed in a portrait or landscape mode.
The US firm has also released a very short video showing off this speaker and the Amazon Echo design team might want to sit and take note.
