In new extracts from title ‘Finding Freedom’, Meghan and Kate were said to have “never become friends” with the Duchess of Sussex “disappointed” her with reported rival for not supporting her enough during her time within the Royal Family. According to the publication – written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand – the two Duchesses “struggled to move past distant politeness” due to the fact they had “nothing in common other than the fact they lived at Kensington Palace”. The comments from the book – which representatives of Meghan and her husband Prince Harry say the couple did not support – were released this week by the Times and come at a time of high tension for the Sussexes.
Yet the quotes appear at odds with how Meghan and Harry have publicly discussed their relationship with Kate Middleton and husband Prince William.
In a resurfaced Twitter clip, the Sussexes explained how “wonderful” the Cambridges had been since Meghan joined the Royal Family officially following their wedding in 2018.
During the video, Prince Harry said: “So William was longing to met her and so was Catherine. They’re our neighbours so we managed to get that in quite a few times now and Catherine has been absolutely amazing – as has William.”
Meghan then interjected to claim Kate – who is also known as Catherine – had been “wonderful”.
Harry added: “William’s been fantastic.”
Following the clip’s emergence, fans of Meghan quickly took to Twitter to back the Duchess and pour scorn over the new book’s claims.
One wrote: “I am no Markle fan but that phrasing shows distaste, which has been repeatedly proven by Markle herself to have been the correct assessment!”
Another said: “So sad.. if they never left the UK this May have been kept private.”

Yet, this new publication appears to open up a whole new world of difficulties that the Sussexes were living in, with even close friends of Meghan explaining how harsh she found royal life.
A close friend of Meghan’s explained in the book: “Duchess Different. That’s what people have a problem with.
“She’s the easiest person in the world to work with. Certain people just don’t like the fact she stands out.”
