Stephanie Winston Wolkoff’s bombshell memoir, “Melania and Me: My Years as Confidant, Advisor and Friend to the First Lady”, will provide first-hand information of Ms Trump’s days in the White House. The book, which is due out in September before the presidential election, is said to offer a “revealing” insight into Ms Winston Wolkoff’s 15-year friendship with the First Lady.

The author said she was “thrown under the bus” after she was dismissed in 2018 over claims that she had been taking advantage of US President Donald Trump’s 2017 inauguration.

She refuted allegations her firm was granted around £21million ($26million) in payments to help organise the inauguration ceremony and related events, claiming her company “retained a total of $1.62 million”.

But she was dismissed from her position in the East Wing via email.

In the statement, Ms Trump wrote: “I am sorry that the professional part of our relationship has come to an end, but I am comforted in the fact that our friendship far outweighs politics.

“Thank you Again! Much love.”

Ms Winston Wolkoff’s book has received mixed reviews ahead of its official release in September.

According to a summary of the title published by Vanity Fair: “In her memoir, Wolkoff chronicles her journey from their friendship that started in New York to her role as the First Lady’s trusted advisor to her abrupt and very public departure, to life after Washington.”

A description published on Google books says the book guarantees a “revealing and explosive portrayal of Stephanie Winston Wolkoff’s fifteen-year friendship with Melania Trump and observations of the most chaotic White House in history”.

US news and opinion website the Daily Beast warns “people with knowledge of the project say that the content of the book is largely negative, and that the manuscript heavily trashes” the First Lady.

The controversial read follows the release of National Security Adviser John Bolton’s memoir “The Room Where It Happened,” which provides Mr Bolton’s account of working alongside President Trump in the White House.

In his book, Mr Bolton accuses Mr Trump of seeking help from China to secure a re-election, giving in return his approval for China’s plan to create forced-labour camps for its Muslim Uighur community.

Asked how Trump will be remembered historically, Mr Bolton said: “I hope it will remember him as a one-term president who didn’t plunge the country irretrievably into a downward spiral we can’t recall from.

”We can get over one term. I have absolute confidence – even if it’s not the miracle of a conservative Republican being elected in November. Two terms, I’m more troubled about.

“But I’m really troubled about the absence as well of a viable national security wing in the Democratic Party.

“So this is an election for me of a choice of two unacceptable alternatives. And it’s not one I relish.”

The Sunday Telegraph reported Mr Bolton as saying: “In 2016 I voted for Trump over Hillary Clinton.

“Now, having seen this president up close, I cannot do this again.
