Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex announced in January this year they wanted to step down as senior working royals in order to pursue their own path in the US. Details of the dramatic split, dubbed Megxit, were thrashed out at an infamous showdown at Sandringham, the so-called Sandringham summit. Meghan did not attend the meeting, held with Her Majesty the Queen and other senior royals, but wanted to contribute via telephone, it is understood.
However, the Queen was having none of it, leaving Harry to “face the music on his own”, a royal expert said.
Speaking on Channel 5 documentary: ‘William and Kate: Too Good to be True’, Fox News royal reporter Neil Sean claimed the Duchess of Sussex was due to appear on speakerphone but the Queen “put paid to” the notion.
He said: “Apparently Meghan was going to be on speakerphone.
“Well, the Queen put paid to that. So Harry had to face the music on his own.”

Royal author Anna Pasternak confirmed the Firm had taken a hard-line stance during the discussions.
She said: “The decision was made if you want to go we are desperately sad about that, but you are out.”
The Sandringham summit was an opportunity for William to show he could put the duties of the monarchy ahead of his loyalties to his brother, royal expert Adam Kay suggested.
He said: “You could not be, in William’s view, a member of the Royal Family dipping in and out. You were either in or out.”
“So the Prince of Wales, later the Duke of Windsor, was always supported by his sister and his three brothers.
“Elizabeth, now the Queen, was always supported by Princess Margaret.
“There is a kind of unwritten code inside the Royal Family that your job as a sibling is to help share the burden of the monarchy.”
Prince Harry and Meghan are understood to be living in an LA mansion away from the scrutiny of the UK.
The Duchess of Sussex’s mother, Doria Ragland is also thought to be living there with them and their one-year-old son, Archie-Harrison.
