A spa trip is the perfect way to unwind and relax post-lockdown. Spas across the UK were closed for months as part of the lockdown rules, but are now allowed to open for business. However, a spa experience will not be exactly how you remember it.
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden gave the reopening date for beauty salons, spas and nail salons two weeks ago.
On Thursday, July 9, spas were greeted with news they could reopen on Monday, July 13.
Alongside spas, beauty salons, nail bars, tattoo parlours, physical therapy businesses and massage studios were all permitted to open from this date too.
However, spa venues are only allowed to open if they are deemed covid-secure.
At present, no close-contact services are permitted.

Can I book a Spa Day now?
You can book a Spa Day now, considering some spas are already open.
Virgin Experience Days spas will reopen from July 25, but you can already book your spot.
Richard Hurd-Wood, CEO of Virgin Experience Days, said: “With over 300 spa, gyms, leisure centres and indoor pool experiences currently available through Virgin Experience Days, we welcome the news that these facilities will be able to reopen from July 25.
“As some of the last venues to reopen to the public following the pandemic, these businesses have taken a significant hit since the nationwide outbreak, and they will be eager to reopen as quickly as possible.
“We are working closely with our suppliers to ensure they can provide staff and customers the reassurance on health and safety measures needed so that they can recover from the crisis successfully.”
