The Duchess of Cambridge, 38, has become quite the fashion icon since joining the Royal Family. However, though she often mixes high street brands with more expensive designer labels, her looks aren’t always the most affordable. But shoppers hoping to copy her royal style will be delighted with the latest item in Lidl’s summer fashion range.
In what’s dubbed the “Kate Middleton effect”, the Duchess often causes clothing to sell out fast whenever she makes an appearance.
Her dresses in particular are always in high demand as royal fans flock to copy her smart-casual style with shirt dresses and midis from the likes of Ghost, LK Bennett and Beulah London.
But for fans who missed out on one of her most popular summer outfits last year, the Ridley London floral tea dress, there’s good news thanks to Lidl’s middle aisles.
The budget supermarket is selling a £9.99 dress which is an almost exact replica of Kate’s Ridley London number.

The £9.99 dress is almost exactly the same colour, with a similar print to Kate’s pretty floral maxi, with the only difference being the tie detail to the neckline – plus a much more affordable price tag.
Lidl is also selling a deeper blue strappy-style maxi dress in the same collection, as well as a black playsuit, culottes and sandals as part of its summer fashion range.
The dress is available in sizes eight to 18, and is sure to be popular for the warmer summer weather.
However, anyone looking to copy Kate’s style will need to be quick as it’s likely the dress will sell out fast.
But while Kate’s original dress sold out fast online, Lidl shoppers will have to head into the store to pick up the budget dupe, as the supermarket doesn’t sell via its website.
Keen royal fans will have to take a chance and hope to find it in the Middle of Lidl aisles on their next grocery shop.
The summer fashion deals have been available in stores since last Thursday – but there are plenty of other offers up for grabs.
The supermarket releases new collections of deals every week, with everything from garden products and clothes to beauty and DIY tools.
This week shoppers can pick up new underwear including a five-pack of briefs for just £5.99, as well as bathroom essentials.
The brand is selling Oral-B electric toothbrushes from just £14.99 in store.
There’s also a home spa and a hot wax kit which may come in handy while the government remains firm on beauty salons staying closed.
From Sunday however it’s all change as new products come in, with sports clothing and kitchen essentials going on sale – including Salter kettles and toasters at bargain prices.
