Supermarkets have had to adapt and make significant changes over the last few months due to the coronavirus lockdown. Many of the big chains launched special food boxes that could be ordered for delivery, offering everyday essentials so that shoppers didn’t have to venture into the supermarket. However, despite the lockdown rules easing, Asda has made it even easier for those who need to stay home by slashing its prices.
Morrisons, Marks and Spencer, Aldi and Asda are among the brands that have created food boxes or food parcels for those who want to stay at home.
The boxes provide cupboard essentials such as tea, milk, bread and pasta, making it easier for those who are shielding to get access to food.
Some of the chains have followed the initial popular launch with boxes of different themes, from vegan boxes to barbecue selections and even ready meals so shoppers can recreate a takeaway at home.
The boxes cost from £20 across the different supermarkets, usually with delivery included.

However, Asda has now cut the price of its £30 Cupboard Filler Box – and it said the change will be permanent.
The box was launched last month to help those who were struggling to get out to the supermarket or book delivery slots during the coronavirus lockdown.
Shoppers can now order the box, which contains 31 food items, for just £25 – including delivery.
It means customers will be getting a discount, as the supermarket has promised every box will include £30 worth of groceries, even though the contents may vary slightly.

The news comes after Asda was named the cheapest major online supermarket by Which? for the third month in a row.
The box has been very popular since its launch, so shoppers will be delighted with the new lower price as the lockdown continues.
Reviews have been pouring in on the special website that Asda created for the boxes, with many saying they’ll be reordering.
“Absolutely brilliant. I’ve been shielding for past 13 weeks & this filler box has helped me out. I hope u will continue to do them when shielding finishes at end of July as I think it’s going to take a while to get my confidence back to go into shops again (sic),” one shopper wrote.
So what’s in the box? Asda said: “A typical box contains approximately 31 items and will include the items listed below (or products to a similar value).”
