Joe Biden has again blasted the Conservative Party’s tax-cutting policies under former Prime Minister Liz Truss. The ex-Vice President has used what became known as Trussonomics to attack Republican plans to cut taxes ahead of next month midterm elections
Mr Biden referred to the “chaos” around former Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng’s mini-budget which was widely covered by US television networks to caution American voters not to give Republicans a majority on November 8.
The veteran Irish-American lawmaker is attempting to link Republican tax-cutting policies with Ms Truss’ plan for £45billion in tax cuts that sunk the pound and her career.
Speaking at a virtual event for Iowa Congresswoman Cindy Axne, Mr Biden warned of the “chaos” Ms Truss’s plans caused and argued that the Republicans would like to extend the tax cuts passed under former President Donald Trump which are due to expire in 2024.
He said: “You read about what happened in England recently, and the last prime minister, she wanted to cut taxes for the super wealthy — it caused economic chaos in the country.
“Well, that’s what they did last time and they want to do it again.
“And they want to make that tax cut permanent — that $ 2trillion.”
Mr Biden had previously slammed Trussonoimics at an event in Oregon on October 15.
He said: “Well, it’s predictable. I mean, I wasn’t the only one that thought it was a mistake.
