Leicester Mercury reports that just after the crash happened a Google traffic map was showing slow traffic in orange and red on a long stretch of the M1.
It seemed that at that time there was also a bit of traffic queuing on the southbound A50 too. This may have been due to sat navs giving drivers an alternative route so they could get to their Boxing Day lunches with family in time.
The National Highways Agency reports that all the vehicles from the incident have now been moved to the hard shoulder.
This has meant that all lanes of the M1-southbound have been able to be reopened.
There are still delays of about 25 minutes in the area.
