Bride wears her £300 wedding dress to do her daily chores because she wants to ‘get her money’s worth’

A BRIDE has decided to get her money’s worth for her wedding dress by wearing the frock to do her weekly chores.

Dawn Winfield-Hunt tied the knot with Steve, 57, earlier this month, but she’s barely taken the dress off since.

Dawn, also 57, is getting some mileage out of the £300 dress by wearing it to do her weekly food shop, cook dinner and even do the housework.

She explained: “I have cooked, cleaned and even done a bit of carpentry in it.

“Usually you only get to wear your dress once and then you put it in a box and forget about it.

“But I liked mine and decided to wear it the following day for a BBQ with friends and everyone loved it.

“I plan on wearing it every now and then until my first anniversary next year, it will be covered in seaweed, wine stains and probably won’t even be white anymore but I don’t care.”

Dawn has taken her dress paddle boarding and even been to a festival in the gown, usually worn as a one-off.

The office manager, from the Isle of Wight, has now started a blog detailing the adventures of her dress, after creating a ‘bucket list’ for the frock.

Dawn said: “I then decided to create a bucket list of adventures for my wedding dress, my son Sam, 31, thinks I am mental.

“Both myself and Steve, who is a curriculum manager, have been married once before and we thought we would have a bit of fun this time.

“Previously, like most women I put my dress away, never to be seen again but this one is going to have memories.

The new bride also wants to take the dress kayaking

“I did all the alterations myself and I will most definitely be giving it a bath or two as I plan to wear it kayaking in the future.”

The dress – which had never been worn – is already having a second lease of life, after Dawn picked it up in a charity shop.

The bargain frock still had the £1,800 label on it, and Dawn says it brings people joy to see her in it.

She said: “The dress puts a smile on people’s face, many of which think it is my wedding day and congratulate me as they are passing by in the street.

“When I arrived at the checkout in the supermarket, the lady said she had received a message through her earpiece saying ‘bride in aisle 12’ which is pretty funny.

“I love that the dress makes other people happy too.”

The thrifty bride and groom, who had been together for five years, had an eco-friendly wedding and Dawn did all the alterations herself.

Steve is on board with Dawn’s year-long wardrobe statement, as she added: “I have definitely got my money’s worth by wearing it on the weekends.

“Steve is always camera ready and finds it hilarious too, we are always having fun so most of our friends aren’t surprised that I have managed to wear my dress again.”

And this bride was horrified after a bird pooped all over her wedding gown – before she’d taken any photos.

Meanwhile this bride was shamed for spending £1k on a dress but not providing food, booze or a DJ.

Plus this guest wore a floor length white frock to her pal’s wedding, and people can’t tell who is the bride.
