Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has sensationally blamed Portugal’s gut-wrenching World Cup exit at the hands of Morocco on the involvement of Argentine referee Facundo Tello – declaring “screw them” in an extraordinary attack on FIFA. The Atlas Lions defied the odds once again to become the first-ever African side to reach the semi-finals courtesy of Youssef En-Nesyri’s powerful first-half header.
Yet despite a toothless team performance, Fernandes has incredibly questioned why the Argentine official was assigned the game when his own nation are still in the tournament – claiming the official was out to manufacture Portugal’s exit.
Fernandes slammed football’s governing body, stating: “I don’t know if they’re going to give the cup to Argentina. I don’t care, I’m going to say what I think and screw them.
“It’s very strange that a referee from a team that whistles us it’s still in the World Cup. They’ve clearly tilted the field against us.”
The Red Devils playmaker also questioned why there were no Portuguese officials selected for the tournament in Qatar.

“The players wanted to but couldn’t, they had a lot of will. They were very confident but the truth is that we couldn’t explain our whole game despite having goal situations. We couldn’t do it. The players worked hard.”
He later added: “It hurts the same. Leaving the World Cup always hurts. We were convinced that we could reach the final and win.”
Morocco will now face England or France in the semi-finals for a place in next weekend’s final.
Portugal legend Ronaldo left the pitch in tears as the curtain came down on his incredible World Cup story.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has featured at five finals – scoring in all five of them and accumulating eight goals.
Yet Ronaldo has never found the net in a knockout stage match as his barren run continued against Morocco.
Ronaldo started the match on the bench before being introduced by Santos earlier in the second half but Morocco held firm to earn their fourth clean sheet in five matches at the tournament.
The Atlas Lions have now incredibly shut out Croatia, Belgium, Spain and Portugal on their way to the last four.
