Comic Katherine Ryan leaves audience stunned when she jokes about Cheryl Tweedy dying of malaria

KATHERINE Ryan has blown her chances of ever being pals with Cheryl Tweedy.

The comic stunned a TV audience this week with a joke about the star almost dying of malaria.

Cheryl was treated for the tropical disease in 2010 following a holiday to Tanzania, on the east coast of Africa.

During The Lateish Show With Mo Gilligan, on Channel 4 tonight at 10pm, Katherine says: “The nation’s sweetheart! She’s so tiny though. If she was born in the winter, she wouldn’t have made it. Tiny!

“And you just can’t knock her down — even God tried. Malaria! She won’t die. She’s a very strong woman.”

The rant didn’t end there though as she continued to criticise Cheryl, much to the shock of fellow guest Scarlett Moffatt. Katherine added: “She’s done more damage to the North East than Margaret Thatcher.”

It’s not the first time the Canadian comedian has laid into Cheryl, having admitted on BBC show Room 101 in 2015 that she wanted to get rid of her.

She said: “I don’t believe she’s human. Cheryl is a robotic creation.”And in a stand-up set later that year she had another pop, saying: “My problem with Cheryl is that she maybe doesn’t treat everyone very nicely. She’s a bit of a diva.”

Oblivious Cheryl has been back at work shooting the second series of The Greatest Dancer in Birmingham for the past week.

Somehow, I can’t see Katherine joining the panel any time soon.

JORJA Smith turns up the heat in new single Be Honest featuring Burna Boy.

My exclusive snap shows the Brit singer  looking hot in a white swimsuit, though she probably didn’t need to wear that to lounge around at home, as she is here.

But in other scenes in the video, released at noon on Friday, she rides a jet ski, swims in a pool of tennis balls and struts down the street.

In the chorus, she sings: “Be honest, you want this, but I can be heartless.” I have no doubt about that . . .

Three of the band – Sean Conlan, Scott Robinson and Ritchie Neville – are about to embark on their The Boys Are Back! tour with tickets on sale now. Sean said: “The record company got most of my money.”

Scott added: “I see my money on the telly every time I turn it on. It’s Simon Cowell’s teeth just dazzling my eyes. I paid for them.”

The X Factor boss first signed them up in the late Nineties and they released three albums before eventually splitting in 2001.

Now, when I see Simon smile I’ll always think of the lads.

TWO Door Cinema Club have released the video for single Once. It’s totally harmless, unless you’re offended by gore. The trio all saw their right arms off in the bonkers promo after being haunted by ventriloquist dummies.

Ariana gig ‘safe’

ARIANA Grande’s team is pulling out all the stops to ensure her fans feel safe during her upcoming UK tour.

Two years after a terrorist attack at her Manchester Arena gig, around £250,000 of the Sweetener tour budget has been allocated to safety, both for Ariana and her fans.

A source said: “Security is at the forefront of Ariana and her team’s mind.

“More checks will be taking place and they’re taking the clear bag policy so seriously, anyone who has a bag that doesn’t meet the requirements won’t be allowed in. Ariana will have more personal protection too.

“Her team are aware that some of those who were caught up in what happened in Manchester are coming to her concerts. They want to make sure they enjoy the night.

“The American leg of her tour had the same security measures implemented and it went without a hitch.”

The Thank U, Next singer kicks off her tour at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday night.

Split blamed on Liam’s partying

DESPITE ending their marriage after only seven months, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s respectful statements about their split made it seem like there were no hard feelings.

But five days after the separation was revealed, it has turned nasty.

Contradictory reports have emerged in the US, with sources close to Miley saying she fought to save their marriage but struggled to accept Liam’s drinking and alleged drug use. And that, along with his partying, was said to be a deal-breaker for Miley given her own battle with substance abuse in the past. But Liam’s team have told a completely different story, insisting Miley had been unfaithful which sparked their separation.

She was seen kissing The Hills reality star Kaitlynn Carter in Italy last week, although she is believed to have separated with Liam months earlier. When Miley performed at Glastonbury in June, accompanied by Kaitlynn, the Hollywood actor was pictured in the US without his wedding ring.

The couple met on the set of drama The Last Song in 2009. Their last song has surely been sung now.

Putting it Blunt-ly

IT has been a while since James Blunt released a tune but that’s not because of a change of career, despite what he says.

The singer on Thursday joked on Twitter about the uncanny similarity between him and Sky Sports roving reporter Faye Carruthers.

He tagged her in a screenshot of her reporting on a match and wrote: “Lots of people asking me what I’ve been up to recently.”

Unsurprisingly she wasn’t sure how to feel about it, replying: “I don’t know whether to be mortified or applaud!”

Probably a bit of both.

GARY Barlow is working on a solo orchestral album. The Take That frontman said on Twitter: “I’ve done so much in my career but the one thing I’ve never recorded is a record with an orchestra.” The album is due out next autumn.

MIKE Tyson says he gets through £33,000 of cannabis every few weeks. The former boxer told his Hotboxin podcast co-host, Eben Britton: “We smoke 10 tons of weed a month.” The drug is legal in California, where he lives.

EVERYONE You Know have today released their second EP, Look After Your Pennies. The duo said: “It offers a lot of emotion and honesty. It has moments that will make you want to cry, quit your job and smash your room to bits.”
