Coronavirus – the best breakfast food to lower your risk of COVID-19 infection symptoms

Coronavirus is an infectious disease that has been confirmed in more than 10 million people across the world. You could protect against COVID-19 symptoms by adding more yoghurt to your diet, it’s been claimed.

The UK lockdown is slowly being eased, as shoppers are now allowed to explore the high-street in England, provided they remain socially-distanced.

You can also visit someone else’s garden, as long as the person you’re visiting isn’t shielding, and there aren’t more than six people in the garden at once.

But the government has still advised the public to remain indoors as much as possible, in an attempt to slow the spread of the virus.

One of the easiest ways to lower your chances of developing symptoms is to eat more yoghurt, it’s been revealed.

“The microbes that live in your gut [microbiome] play an important part in maintaining your immune system and your overall health,” said the COVID Symptom Study app.

“Eating the right foods for your microbiome may help to support your immune system and overall health.

“A diverse microbiome is a healthy microbiome, with lots of different microbes that can perform a range of functions and fend off infections.

“You can also support your microbiome by including probiotic-rich foods like natural yoghurt, kefir (fermented milk) or kombucha (fermented tea), which all contain live microbes.”

Meanwhile, you could also lower your risk of coronavirus symptoms by eating more sweet potatoes.

Sweet potato contains vitamin A, which plays a crucial role in supporting the immune system, it added.

You should also consider avoiding processed foods, salt, sweets and alcohol.

Artificial sweeteners and food additives may be inhibiting your immune defences.
