Ever Banega
Ronaldo and Banega have tussled several times on the pitch and it appears the pair could meet once again in the Saudi Arabian Pro League. The Argentinian midfielder is one of the highest-paid players in the division with Al-Shabab, with a reported weekly wage of around £155,000-a-week.
The 34-year-old may relish coming up against a player of Ronaldo’s quality again after spending nine years in La Liga with Sevilla and Valencia.
Ronaldo’s extraordinary pay packet would blow that out of the water, but Banega is a talented player and proved himself to be an important part of Al Shabab’s squad with 13 goals in 58 appearances as he participates in his third season at the club.
Talisca
Once rated as one of the brightest talents outside of the top five European leagues, Talisca’s career trajectory has been somewhat influenced by the monetary aspect rather than the sporting side of football.
The Brazilian is still only 28 but turned his back on Europe when he headed to join Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande in 2018 on loan before sealing a permanent switch from Benfica. He left the Chinese outfit in 2021 to join Al-Nassr and would be Ronaldo’s team-mate should he complete his switch.
That would surely enable Ronaldo to settle in a little easier in the country where Arabic is the main language, with Talisca a Portuguese-speaking native like himself.
