Cristiano Ronaldo has wowed the football world with his longevity in scoring goals and impressive conditioning at the age of 37. However, a familiar rival in the Manchester United dressing room is giving him a run for his money, with Casemiro reportedly snatching his title as the strongest man in Erik ten Hag’s squad.
Ronaldo has endured a difficult season under Ten Hag, having to settle for a bit-part role as the Dutchman favours a more dynamic attack than last term’s system that revolved around the Portuguese icon. But he would have been happy to see former Real Madrid team-mate Casemiro joining him and Raphael Varane at Old Trafford.
Casemiro hasn’t wasted any time in stamping his authority on English football, helping United’s performances level up at the heart of Ten Hag’s side since his arrival. However, he’s also living up to expectation in the club gym, eclipsing Ronaldo’s esteemed reputation on the weights.
According to the Daily Star, Casemiro has stolen Ronaldo’s title of ‘King of the Gym’ at United after bettering the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s 250kg leg press with ease. The latter has left team-mates in awe since returning to M16 last summer, thrashing out 30 consecutive reps at a weight not many can match, but Casemiro has dwarfed his efforts.

The 30-year-old defensive midfielder has boasted the ability to squat and press up to 300kg, leaving his peers as impressed as supporters have been with his transformative displays in red. His power and deciveness have helped him become one of the world’s best in his position, dispossessing opponents with ease and cutting out passes at a rate United’s midfield hasn’t seen for some time.
Former Real team-mate Toni Kroos has previously endorsed Casemiro’s strength, informing United’s squad exactly what to expect on and off the pitch. He said: “It was impossible not to break a sweat in any situation. He [Casemiro] wouldn’t let us relax, even in the Turkish bath.
