Shocking video footage of the aftermath of his murder captured the stark horror and impact of Britain’s knife crime epidemic in a day of carnage.

The film showed cops and paramedics trying to revive the boy after he was attacked in Brixton, South London, shortly before 2pm yesterday.

He was the second teenager to be stabbed to death in the capital within 72 hours.

WHAT WITNESSES SAW

A crying witness told The Sun: “The boy’s mum turned up as he was receiving treatment.

“She was rushed by police through the cordon to be with him and then collapsed screaming ‘my boy, my boy, my son, my son,’ over and over again.

“Her screams and wails echoed down the street. People were crying.

“At one point the police and paramedics carried the boy to the ambulance and it seemed as if he was going to be okay.

“His mum seemed to be calm but then they dropped the stretcher and continued carrying on CPR.”

The teenage victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tearful witness cried: “When will this bloodshed stop? When will the police and politicians get a grip on what is happening?

“It’s a war zone. None of our kids are safe.”

A boy of 17 was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder shortly after the knife attack.

The unnamed teenage victim is the 91st homicide victim in London this year – with murder rates now rocketing towards all-time high figures from the early 2000’s.

KNIFE CRIME BODY COUNT

The latest knife horror in the capital came less than 48 hours after 16-year-old Alex Smith was stabbed to death by laughing drive-by killers in Camden, North London.

Met Police said officers were called to Corrance Road, Brixton, to reports of a stabbing.

A spokesperson said: “An 18-year-old man was found with stab injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at 2.41pm.

“A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder at 2.23pm in Tremadoc Road. He has been taken into custody. Crime scenes have been put in place. Next of kin have been informed.

“A post mortem will be carried out in due course.

“Homicide detectives form Specialist Crime have been informed. Enquiries continue.”

Justice campaigner and youth worker Richard Taylor, whose 10-year-old son Damilola was stabbed to death in 2000, said:

“These killers do not know the value of life.

“They do not realise the consequences of what they are doing and the effect on the victim’s family.”

Mr Taylor, who set up the Damilola Taylor Trust to prevent youth crime following his son’s murder, added: “The new Prime Minister has promised to cut down crime.

“Now is the time for action, not words.’’
