Former President Donald Trump has posted online following the announcement that an investigation is underway after a number of potentially classified documents were discovered at President Joe Biden’s former private office. Mr Trump is currently facing a probe for taking classified documents to his home Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
On Monday, the White House confirmed that the US Justice Department is currently investigating ten documents which were stored at Joe Biden’s previous office at a think tank, which he kept from 2017 to 2020.
The documents, which may be highly classified, were found locked in a closet at the Penn-Biden Center in Washington.
Mr Biden is a former honorary professor of the organisation.
Richard Sauber, special counsel to Mr Biden, said in a statement that the files were discovered in November, just before the midterm elections by the president’s attorneys while they were cleaning out the office.
A source told CBS news that the documents were found in a folder among unclassified paper and that the files did not contain nuclear secrets.
Former President Trump reacted to the news on his social media site, Truth Social.
The 45th President said: “When is the FBI going to raid the many homes of Joe Biden, perhaps even the White House? These documents were definitely not declassified.”
The news comes after the US Justice Department launched a separate investigation against Mr Trump for allegedly refusing to hand over 30 classified files, which the FBI seized from his home Mar-a-Lago last August.
In September, President Joe reacted to a photograph of the files recovered from Mr Trump’s home by saying: “How anyone could be that irresponsible?”

James Comer, the Republican Chair of the House Oversight Committee, said he will launch an inquiry into the potentially classified documents.
He said he would also investigate if both Mr Biden and Mr Trump have been treated differently on this matter.
The chairman said: “How ironic, “President Biden was quick to criticize President Trump for having classified documents.
“I wonder if the National Archives is going to ask the FBI to raid the White House tonight?”
