Eddie Hearn confirms talks with Tyson Fury's team over blockbuster Anthony Joshua bout

Eddie Hearn has confirmed he has spoken to Tyson Fury’s promoter, George Warren, about the proposed all-British showdown with Anthony Joshua. The Matchroom Boxing chief is very sceptical about Fury’s recent offer but has touched base with his team.

Speaking to talkSPORT Breakfast, this morning, Hearn said: “The message is quite clear from AJ, we don’t want to get involved in a backwards and forwards, we want the fight, it’s the fight he’s wanted for a long time.

“We had plans after the Usyk defeat to come back in December and then go again in March, get active and get the rhythm going again and then try and fight for the world heavyweight title.

“But, I know having spoken to AJ, if that fight is there and they’re serious, which I have my doubts about, but for the good of trying to make it happen let’s believe Tyson Fury and I said to George Warren last night, get the details and the offer over to us and I’ll take it to AJ, he’s ready to go.

Fury took to Twitter yesterday to call out Joshua for their long-awaited grudge match after it was confirmed that his proposed undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk would not be able to take place in December due to injuries sustained by the Ukrainian in his last fight with AJ. With the fight being pushed back to next year,  Fury — who has been training non-stop since his ‘retirement’ in April– is keen to not let his hard work go to waste and has confirmed he will announce a fight for December this week.
