Farage send Truss warning as he predicts Boris Johnson will cause 'huge problems'

The former Brexit Party leader said Mr Johnson was “very unapologetic” in his farewell speech outside 10 Downing Street this morning. Mr Farage added that the former Prime Minister will cause “huge problems” for his successor’s administration.

The GB News presenter tweeted: “A very unapologetic Boris Johnson outside No 10, telling us how great he did until they changed the rules.

“His commentary from now on will cause the government huge problems.”

Mr Farage’s comments come amid high speculation that Mr Johnson could bid for a comeback in the future.

Speaking outside No 10 earlier, he fuelled speculation that he could one day make a sensational return.

Mr Johnson compared himself to Cincinnatus, a Roman statesman who battled against invasion before returning to his farm.

He said: “On the subject of bouncing around in future careers, let me say that I am now like one of those booster rockets that has fulfilled its function.

“I will now be gently re-entering the atmosphere and splashing down invisibly in some remote and obscure corner of the Pacific.

“Like Cincinnatus, I am returning to my plough and I will be offering this Government nothing but the most fervent support.”

Mr Johnson also took a parting swipe at his exit as he made his valedictory speech.

He said: “This is it, folks. Thank you everybody for coming out so early this morning.

In only a couple of hours, I will be in Balmoral to see Her Majesty the Queen and the torch will finally be passed to a new Conservative leader.

“The baton will be handed over in what has unexpectedly turned out to be a relay race.

“They changed the rules halfway through, but never mind that now.”

Mr Johnson went on to travel to Balmoral to tender his resignation to the Queen.

In a carefully choreographed schedule, his successor Ms Truss met the monarch for her audience shortly afterwards where she became Prime Minister.

It comes after Ms Truss was unveiled as the new Tory leader yesterday following the summer contest.

Mr Farage yesterday warned the Tories will lose the next general election unless Ms Truss gets a grip on three key issues.

The ex-Ukip leader told Express.co.uk: “The Tories will lose the next election unless Truss stops the Channel invasion, makes us energy independent and boosts the economy through helping small business.

“She has a lot of work to do.”
