FIFA 23 ratings released as five players ranked higher than Man Utd star Cristiano Ronaldo

EA Sports have revealed that Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo will be 90 rated on the much-anticipated FIFA 23. The Portugal international was consistently one of the top two highest-rated players in the game previously, though this year five players will be above him in the rankings.

Ronaldo has been the face of the FIFA video game franchise over the years, regularly battling it out with Lionel Messi for the top spot. However, since making his move to Manchester United, the 37-year-old is slipping in the estimations of EA.

On FIFA 23, Real Madrid star – and likely Ballon d’Or winner – Karim Benzema is the joint-highest rated this year with a rating of 91. He shares the top spot with Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski and Paris-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, the cover star of the game.

Manchester City playmaker Kevin de Bruyne is also 91 rated, along with Mbappe’s teammate Lionel Messi, who receives a minus two downgrade after a mixed bag of a debut campaign in the Ligue 1. Ronaldo will be hoping that a change of face in the dugout at Old Trafford can help him impress once more, though he was the Red Devils’ saving grace for extended periods of last season.

The former Juventus forward shares his 90 rating with Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk, as well as goalkeepers Manuel Neuer and Thibaut Courtois. Numerous promotional cards, as well as performance-based upgrades, will be available up for grabs for Ronaldo to reclaim his spot as the highest-rated card in the game.

Another player who will be looking for an upgrade throughout the game is PSG’s Neymar, who was 91-rated last year. The winger scored 13 and assisted six in 22 league appearances last season so is likely to feel slightly begrudged by his downgrade.

Tottenham duo Son Heung-min and Harry Kane both are also rated 89 for the upcoming game, which will be available to purchase from the 30th of September. Other Premier League stars that received the popular rating include N’Golo Kante and Erling Haaland, with the latter making an unbelievable start to life in England with 10 goals in six appearances.

It gives the Norwegian a healthy lead as he looks to secure the golden boot in his debut campaign at City, and it is starting to look increasingly unlikely that Ronaldo will be in with a shot of winning that trophy as things stand. He has only started one league match so far this season, with Erik ten Hag opting for Marcus Rashford to lead the line for his side.
