Floyd Mayweather has confirmed that he will be looking to fight in the United Kingdom as part of a new five-fight plan for 2023. The undefeated boxer is taking on British influencer Deji Olatunji on November 13, and fans are trying to work out who Mayweather could fight on UK soil.
Mayweather is planning to put on a show in the UK at some point in 2023, as more fights are on the agenda for the undefeated star.
The fighter has continued to fight despite retiring with a professional record of 50-0, and has recently began targeting internet stars like Logan Paul. Mayweather took on Paul in 2021, with the current WWE star earning a lot of respect worldwide.
Mayweather is now gearing up to face Deji in Dubai, in a huge moment for the brother of KSI, who has only managed one win in his entire boxing career. But with Mayweather now looking to fight in the UK, it’s expected that a British opponent would be needed.
There is a clear path emerging for Mayweather, as it’s expected he will ‘beat’ Deji on November 13. Although it remains an exhibition, a victory could lead him to fight KSI, and continue his trend of fighting viral stars.
However, KSI looks set to fight Jake Paul at some point in the near future, and with ‘The Problem Child’ set to come face-to-face with him at Mayweather’s fight against Deji, his attention may be focused elsewhere. There is another influencer that could take on the challenge, as AnEsonGib is also earning a lot of respect after initially being dominated by Jake Paul.
Gib constantly hassled Paul until he dropped his guard and took on a fight, but he bit off more than he could chew early on into his career. But he has since been considered as one of the better viral fighters from the UK, after continued training.
But although Mayweather has proved he will happily take on anyone if the price is right, he might prefer to set up a fight with a British fighter that has been involved in the sport for some time. In terms of legacy, a bout with Ricky Hatton could excite fans, with both fighters legends of the sport.
But with Hatton not picking up the gloves for some time, a more recent fighter could be the best port of call. Amir Khan and Kell Brook recently settled their differences in the ring, and they could be great options for Mayweather to face.
One thing that’s for sure it, Mayweather will not risk facing anyone that he could be at risk of ‘losing’ against. Although his persistence to fight is admirable, boxing is a dangerous sport, and it could backfire at any moment.
