Four Chelsea stars who can bank Graham Potter brownie points over international break

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

The silky midfielder racked up 10 England caps between 2017 and 2018, but he has not turned out for the Three Lions since. Loftus-Cheek’s talent has never been in doubt, with a rare combination of size and skill, but obstacles blocking him from consistent game time at Chelsea have prevented him from reaching his true potential.

During the latter stages of Thomas Tuchel’s tenure, the 26-year-old was deployed at wing-back but his England caps all came as a central midfielder. Potter’s options are stacked in that area of the pitch, meaning Loftus-Cheek could be wise to knuckle down and show the new manager his level of commitment while the others are away.
