The Gogglebox stars tuned in to a variety of TV from the past week in tonight’s instalment of the hit Channel 4 show, including an episode of Countdown. Looking excited, Sophie Sandiford exclaimed as the famous theme music played: “I’m mint at this! You need to shut up because I’ll be getting all the words,” she told her brother Pete. As the clip proceeded to show Countdown star Rachel Riley, 33, dutifully selecting consonants and vowels, she asked him: “Who do you prefer, Rachel or Carol?”

Barely missing a beat, Pete answered confidently, admitting he finds Rachel attractive.

“Rachel, because she’s fit,” he declared.

The pair were debating who was their favourite out of Countdown presenter Rachel and the game show’s former stalwart Carol Vorderman, 58.

Carol became a household name after joining Countdown when it first aired Channel 4 back in 1982.

She starred on the series for many years, departing in 2008.

The following year, Rachel was drafted in as he replacement and has since gone on to become a fan favourite.

Elsewhere, Rachel Riley announced she was pregnant in an adorable announcement earlier today.

She and her boyfriend Pasha Kovalev, 39, are expecting their first baby in December.

The presenter shared the news with her 385,000 Instagram followers, uploading a picture of herself cradling her small bump as she posed next to the Countdown board.

On the board, an anagram of the word “maternity” spelled out “RTINYMATE”.

“Pash and I have a conundrum for you,” Rachel tease. “You have till December to work it out!

“We’re over the moon excited,” she added.

Rachel and Russian-born professional dancer Pasha first met when they were paired up on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013.

She later split from her husband of 16 months and subsequently struck up a romance with Pasha.

Carol, meanwhile, went on to host Loose Women from 2011 until 2014 after leaving Countdown.

She has also stood in as a guest presenter for Lorraine Kelly, 59, on ITV’s Lorraine on multiple occasions.

It was recently announced Carol would be presenting her own Saturday morning show on BBC Radio Wales, starting June 8.
