Grieving Prince Harry leaves Balmoral alone with security team to reunite with Meghan

The Duke of Sussex was among members of the Royal Family who made a dash to Balmoral yesterday to see the 96-year-old monarch.

He flew to Scotland and was driven into Balmoral at around 8pm – an hour and a half after the public announcement of the Queen’s death.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes, who have had tensions with the Royal Family amid the Megxit fallout, had initially said Meghan would be joining Harry but it later emerged he was travelling alone.

The couple cancelled an appearance at the WellChild Awards in London, where the Duke was due to give a speech. Harry is patron of the national charity for seriously ill children and their families.

The Sussexes, who are living in California after quitting royal duties in 2020, had travelled to Britain this week as part of a mini European tour.

They are understood to have been staying at their former Windsor home Frogmore Cottage, which is a short walk from the Cambridges’ new residence Adelaide Cottage.
