Kate and Prince William's brilliant way to keep George, Charlotte and Louis warm in winter

The Royal Family’s homes are generally quite impressive. With swimming pools, art galleries and underground tunnels the Firm’s stunning palaces and country manors tend to stand out. However, the humble yet inviting open fireplace may be the most enviable feature as the country prepares to head into autumn and then winter.

This winter, the royals will be keeping themselves warm sitting in front of a log-burning stove or open fireplace which seem to be featured in every home.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge famously posed in front of their large log store outside for a family portrait with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis outside of their country home at Anmer Hall.

Prince Charles and Camilla have also shown off their log-burning fireplace inside of Clarence House in London.

Even Meghan and Prince Harry have shown off a grand open fireplace which appears to be carved into stone, although they may be much less likely to need it in sunny California.

These wood-burning fireplaces will actually end up saving the Firm money over the winter months.

Wood burners are less expensive than gas and electricity for heating the home.

Direct Stoves said: “According to research conducted by the Stove Industry Alliance (SIA), the average annual heating bill for a log burner is between £420 and £490.

“This means that log burners can heat your home for a third of the cost of electric heating and around 13 percent less than gas central heating.”

Last year the family posted a video of themselves enjoying the great outdoors, walking on the beach and playing in the garden.

However, as the sun began to set the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are seen sitting with their children warming themselves around a fire while roasting marshmallows.

Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte and Prince George smile and couldn’t seem happier sitting around the flames.

As scorching summers give way to the winter season, it is likely many in the Royal Family plan to keep warm around an open fire.
