Man Utd hero Gary Neville rips into Cristiano Ronaldo after promise – 'Stand up and speak'

Gary Neville has slammed Cristiano Ronaldo and urged the Manchester United star to “stand up and speak now” after the Portuguese superstar promised to reveal the truth over his future. The 37-year-old is keen to leave Old Trafford this summer and has pledged to give a tell-all interview in two weeks, but Neville thinks he should speak out as soon as possible.

Ronaldo’s revelation that he will let the truth out about his situation at Man United has created a sense of intrigue as the 37-year-old attempts to engineer a departure from the Premier League side this summer.

However, with a lack of clubs willing to take on his exorbitant wages means that Ronaldo remains a United player with just over two weeks of the transfer window remaining. And it appears unlikely that the Portugal star will get his wish before then due to the complications that come with selling a player of his stature.

But Neville has urged Ronaldo to speak up now rather than wait a fortnight until he does his interview to let the fans know what is going on, insisting the club “need leaders to lead” amid the ongoing crisis at Old Trafford.

“Why does the greatest player of all time (in my opinion) have to wait two weeks to tell Manchester United fans the truth?” Neville wrote on Twitter to his 5.3 million followers.

“Stand up now and speak. The club is in crisis and it needs leaders to lead. He’s the only one who can grab this situation by the scruff of the neck!”
