United against Chelsea was the headline game on the opening weekend of the Premier League season and it surpassed all expectations.
The Red Devils stormed to an impressive 4-0 win over Frank Lampard’s side, with Marcus Rashford finding the net twice along with Anthony Martial and James.
It was an interesting starting line-up from Solskjaer, who opted to go with the likes of Scott McTominay and Andreas Pereira.
Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were handed their United debuts with Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw making up the defensive line, and Solskjaer is keen to stick with the same formula for most of the season.
“Any successful team will have to build from the back and have a foundation to play from,” he said.
“We always say ‘you have to earn the right to win a game of football’. You earn it by defending well, you have a foundation and hopefully a settled team.
“Hopefully, we won’t have to make too many changes. Over the last few years, I’ve always had the feeling there’s been so many players with bad luck concerning injuries.
“Both Jose [Mourinho] and Louis [van Gaal], maybe even David [Moyes], had to chop and change the back four, especially the centre-backs. Hopefully we can get a settled line-up.”
Where Solskjaer could be tempted to make some changes is in the midfield area with the likes of Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic potentially coming in.
James though is the most likely inclusion into the starting line-up after he found the net coming off the bench.
However, given how well the starting line-up performed against Chelsea last week, the United boss may be more inclined to stick with the same formula.
