A California mother was found dead in a remote location near Los Angeles after vanishing last week, authorities have said. The body of Rachel Castillo, 25, was found in Antelope Valley, north east of her home in Simi Valley.
Castillo was reported missing last week after her sister returned to their shared apartment and found it covered in blood.
Her phone, keys and car were also all at the apartment when her sister returned home.
Emily Castillo told ABC: “As soon as I saw the blood, that’s when I realised something wasn’t right.
“So I called my mom to let her know to come over and then I immediately called 911.”

She added: “I was running around the house trying to see if I could find her somewhere.
“I checked her bathroom, under her bed, her closet, my closet, the laundry room, my bathroom and my bedroom but she wasn’t anywhere in there.”
Castillo’s father tearfully told Good Morning America: “Anything that can help my daughter, it’s better to do the right thing.
“It’s best to do the right thing and step forward, we’re just asking if you’ve done something wrong, step forward and say it.”
Police officers revealed there was a “significant amount of blood” in the apartment and signs of a struggle.
She was last seen dropping her children, aged five and two, at the house or her ex-husband Zarbab Ali.
Authorities confirmed Ali, also 25, was arrested on Sunday and had been named as the primary suspect in their murder investigation.
Ali had posted a plea for information about Castillo’s disappearance on his Facebook page on Saturday.
The Castillo family had previously ruled Ali out as a suspect and even claimed he would never do anything to hurt her, according to ABC.
Officials are yet to release further details into their ongoing investigation.
Castillo worked at a non-profit organisation which was providing social services and counselling for domestic abuse victims.
