Speaking before training on Friday, Howe said: “Let’s get through training today. I’m not clear because I don’t want to put pressure on him. We’ll introduce him at the right time, he’s getting closer all the time, and he has trained with the team, so we’re pleased with his progress, let’s wait and see.”
Howe was then asked about the mental difficulties that Isak may have been going through after sustaining an injury so early in his Newcastle career, he replied: “Initially he was hugely disappointed, there was a feel of real frustration because he wants to contribute, he wants to show his talents. He wants to contribute, he’s trying to, whenever a footballer is back on grass, in amongst his team-mates, he will feel like things are totally different.”
