Nick Kyrgios makes furious Rafael Nadal claim during Cincinnati Open defeat

The Australian star was almost penalised for a time violation on his serve after he claimed the shot clock started too early, and launched into a tirade of abuse at Murphy.

Earlier in the match, he caused controversy after complaining at different officiating decisions from Murphy.

He asked for a comfort break, which was refused, before walking off the court anyway and down the tunnel.

Kyrgios was carrying two rackets, which he proceeded to smash against a wall before returning.

After he came back, he was penalised again for taking too long to re-grip his new racket, and claimed he was in a returning position.

But it was after a time penalty that Kyrgios brought up Nadal, and claimed that he was being unfairly treated.

“So you’re telling me that Rafa plays that quick?” he asked Murphy after being given a time penalty.

“Every service point, that quick?

“Every time? That’s hilarious, bro.

“That’s hilarious. Rafa’s playing that quick?

“I missed the ball, the guy starts the clock.

“Bro, if Rafa plays that quick, I’m retiring from tennis.

“Absolute rubbish, rubbish. Disgrace.

“Get me some footage of Rafa playing that quick, I’ll shut my mouth and never speak again.

“This sport’s biased as s**t.”

At the end of the match Kyrgios refused to shake hands with Murphy, and appeared to spit in his direction, though he was too far away from him to get near his chair.
