Princess Beatrice shares a poem by Edo's brother about Queen to honour her life

Princess Beatrice has shared a touching poem, written by her brother-in-law, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II. Her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, posted the poem to Instagram with Beatrice’s permission, he revealed it had been written by his stepbrother, Alby Shale.

He said: “Your Majesty, Thank you. Thank you to my wonderful brother Alby Shale for writing this for Beatrice and thank you for allowing us to share it. Thank you.”

Last week Edo shared a previously unseen photo of the Queen and Prince Phillip. He also shared a number of other photos as a tribute to the 96-year-old monarch, including a picture of the Queen with her beloved Corgis.

Edo wrote: “What an incredible woman and extraordinary mark she’s left on the entire world. She was the rock on which modern Britain was built.

“Feeling very lucky our little ones got to spend time with her this summer. Rest in Peace, Your Majesty. We will miss you so much. Broken-hearted.”

The poem was written by Alby Shale thanks Her Majesty for “leading with an honourable heart” and “personifying sincerity, justice and humility”.

Alby is the son of Christopher Shale, a Conservative British politician who married Edo’s mother. Christopher Shale died unexpectedly of undiagnosed heart disease in 2011 at Glastonbury Festival.

He was a close confidant of David Cameron who said at his funeral: “He was a rock of stability, a force of great support and a true friend.”

Edo is said to have been very close to his stepfather, his son with ex-fiancé Dara Huang is also named Christopher.

Beatrice’s husband Edo confirmed that their daughter Sienna, and his son Christopher, had spent time with Her Majesty at Balmoral over the summer.

When the couple wed in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, Queen Elizabeth II was present and even lent Beatrice her own tiara.

The wedding was arranged after a larger ceremony in May was cancelled due to the pandemic lockdown.

Beatrice is said to have had a close relationship with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
