A WOMAN who bought a neon orange bikini from Oh Polly has claimed the swimwear left her with “stained skin and bed sheets”.
20-year-old Harriet Wright from Preston, bought the La Vida Loca bikini to wear during a trip to Ibiza, but despite keeping the swimwear – which is not supposed to get wet – out of the pool, she says she was still left covered in dye, following just a squirt of body spray.
Taking to Twitter to voice her upset, she wrote: “I got so many messages about this bikini.
“It’s from Oh Polly but it’s one of those for ‘poolside only’ which is ridiculous since it’s listed in the ‘swim’ section.
“I did not get in the pool with this bikini, water contact was TINY and this is the colour transfer!”
Harriet posted an image of her bed sheets alongside, which appeared to be covered in orange dye.
She added: “The bikini itself is stunning but I wish I’d known it literally cannot come into contact with any water at all or else the colour will run and stain everything including my skin!
“Love the bikini but spending £40 to barely be able to wear it is not ideal.”
And it seems other shoppers have had similar experiences, after one follower replied explaining: “I had this one from them, jumped in the sea off a boat at a boat party for legit 60 seconds and the colour ran and now it looks yellowish too! I’m gutted.”
Others were baffled as to how a bikini was unable to go in the water.
Explaining she had emailed Oh Polly to discuss the bikini, Harriet added: “I sent them an email and they’re replacing it for free which is useless since you can’t even wear it.
“I think it’s ridiculous. I completely understand that they cater largely for influencers, but what use is a bikini to most of us that literally can’t come in to any contact with water?
“Also, why would it be listed under the ‘swim’ section, when you absolutely could not do any swimming in those bikinis?”
“To be honest, I’ve been pretty dissatisfied with them as a whole recently anyway. I will definitely think twice before ordering from there from now on.”
Last month, one Prettylittlething shopper had a similar experience and was left totally mortified when her double-lined bikini went totally see-through as she took a dip in the pool.
The disgruntled shopper reached out to PrettyLittleThing’s customer service team on Instagram to ask for a refund – but was simply told the garment was for “poolside posing” only.
Fabulous Digital has contacted Oh Polly for comment.
