The new Prince of Wales was accompanied by Kate, Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at Windsor Castle. The two royal couples looked at an array of tributes laid out on the grounds for the Queen.
As they inspected flowers and heartfelt messages, one young girl in the gathered crowd offered up a separate tribute to the late monarch.
The young royal fan passed a Paddington Bear toy to the Queen’s grandson, which has become associated with the Queen following a televised sketch aired over the Platinum Jubilee.
The Queen featured in the skit with the animated bear during the Jubilee celebrations, with the Peruvian bear voiced by Ben Whishaw.
In the sketch, the bear enjoys a lunch of marmalade sandwiches with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
The character’s official Twitter account shared a message in reference to the clip shortly after the news broke of the Queen’s death, posting: “Thank you for everything, Ma’am.”
Many tributes to the late monarch have referenced the bear, and Prince William can be heard thanking the youngster for the toy in the clip.
The Prince of Wales responds, according to the Daily Mail: “That is so sweet. Thank you very much.”
He then asks the girl whether she intends for him to hold onto the toy, or whether she would prefer it to join the rest of the tributes lined up at Windsor.

Prince William said he was “incredibly grateful” to have had the “benefit of the Queen’s wisdom and reassurance into my fifth decade”.
He said in a statement: “On Thursday, the world lost an extraordinary leader, whose commitment to the country, the Realms, and the Commonwealth was absolute.
“So much will be said in the days ahead about the meaning of her historic reign.
“I, however, have lost a grandmother. And while I will grieve her loss, I also feel incredibly grateful.
“I have had the benefit of The Queen’s wisdom and reassurance into my fifth decade.”
He added: “She was by my side at my happiest moments. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life. I knew this day would come, but it will be some time before the reality of life without Grannie will truly feel real.
“I thank her for the kindness she showed my family and me.
“And I thank her on behalf of my generation for providing an example of service and dignity in public life that was from a different age, but always relevant to us all.”
