Five people were found dead inside a home by officers, with fears that two children could be among the death toll. Police officers were carrying out a well-being check in suburban Buffalo Grove, Illinois, after being called to the home.
Officers said that upon arrival at the home in the 2800 block of Acacia Terrace at approximately 11.12am, they were unable to make contact with anyone inside of the home.
They then forced their way into the premises, and a search revealed five individuals, all of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
While officers have said there is no ongoing threat to the public and that the incident was domestic, they have not yet confirmed the names of the deceased and the manner of death.
However, neighbours said a husband, wife and two elementary-aged children lived at the home.
Police haven’t said if the residents of the home were the people found dead, but a neighbour, Michelle, told WGN the family moved into the home about four years ago.
“We would see the kids playing about,” Michelle said. “They would have friends and family gatherings.
“Nothing too out of the ordinary so it’s a big shock to have all this occurring, especially during this time of the year.”
Michelle said she did notice police activity at the house over the past couple of months, but said: “It’s never something you want to delve into, but things like that you notice.”
