The amber warning affects the East of England, including Essex, Southend-on-Sea, Suffolk and Thurrock, as well as London & South East England, including Brighton and Hove, East Sussex, Greater London, Kent, Medway, Surrey and West Sussex.

From tomorrow onwards, Mr Dale said the weather will turn “quite pleasant”.

He noted: “Now we have gone into low pressure so it is more unstable. We got ascending air rather than descending.

“Once we get through that into tomorrow, it will become quite pleasant, as the air starts to equal out to a certain degree.
