A PITCH invader left fans in hysterics when he fell over as he tried to score an open goal from just two yards out.

The supporter raced onto the pitch with a ball at his feet during Leeds’ 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Salford.

The pitch invader crashed to the ground after he tried to slot the ball into the net

He channelled his inner Ronaldinho as he effortlessly weaved his way past Leeds goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

But nobody in Moor Lane could have predicted what was coming next.

The pitch invader soaked up the support from the crowd as he charged towards the open goal.

He swung a heavy right boot at the ball from just two yards out, but completely missed it and ended up in a heap on the floor.

Before he could redeem himself, a steward quickly intervened and kicked the ball away from him.

But he still tried to show off his skills by leaping towards the ball with an ambitious diving header.

Luckily for everyone that was not at the Carabao Cup clash, one fan caught the whole incident on camera.

When it was posted to Twitter, the caption read: “This pitch invader made a right fool of himself during the Salford vs Leeds game.”

And he has been described on social media as “the worst pitch invader ever”.

But he was not the only fan to hit the headlines during the match between Marcelo Bielsa’s boys and the League Two giants.

Goalkeeper Casilla ensured one fan did not go hungry by feeding him a pie that was accidentally dropped onto the pitch.
