Kate and Prince William released via their official Twitter account stunning new behind-the-scenes pictures taken during the second award ceremony of the Earthshot Prize held on Friday in Boston, Massachusetts. In one black-and-white snap, the Prince of Wales appears absolutely smitten by his wife, who smiles at him. This photo was released alongside a brief message celebrating the Prize and this year’s five winners.
It read: “Behind the scenes at the second annual #EarthshotPrize awards ceremony. Celebrating brilliant solutions and the inspiring people behind them!”
A second tweet featured more pictures, including one showing the heir to the throne listening from the sidelines of the stage while the award ceremony, televised by the BBC on Sunday at 5.30pm, was ongoing.
The third photo – taken much like the others by royal photographer Chris Jackson – provides a view from behind of Kate walking to the centre of the stage to announce one of the winners.
The last picture shared by Kate and William shows the Princess of Wales clapping and looking at her husband while he is delivering a speech.

The Prince and Princess were in Boston between Wednesday and Friday last week to visit a number of organisations focused on the environment, early-years development and supporting vulnerable young people as well as to celebrate the new winners of the second year of the Earthshot Prize.
The Prince of Wales launched the Prize in October 2020, announcing this initiative will span over the next decade in a bid to stave off or even solve some of earth’s most pressing issues – including climate change, ocean and air pollution and waste.
The Prize aims to inspire people at finding new solutions to safeguard the planet.
Every year, 15 finalists are drawn among thousands of submissions and five are crowned the winners of the Earthshot, each receiving £1million to scale their ideas.
The Prince was inspired for this initiative by John F. Kennedy’s Moonshot speech, which aimed to put a man on the moon by the end of the 1960s while the US was in the midst of the space race with the URSS.
